Biography

Kathleen Kennedy is an artist and educator currently living in Richmond, VA. She received her MFA from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. Kennedy is the Metals Area Coordinator and an Adjunct Instructor for the Department of Craft and Material Studies at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). Additional teaching includes the Haystack Mountain School of Craft in Deer Isle, Maine, the Penland School of Craft in North Carolina and Montgomery College in Rockville, MD. She is a board member of Ethical Metalsmiths and serves on the Education Committee. She is Co-Director of Radical Jewelry Makeover, an international community mining and jewelry recycling project. RJM lays bare the social and environmental destruction of mining, inspiring artists to shift their practices towards sustainable solutions, and asking communities to radically alter their habits of consumption. Kennedy exhibits her work in Invitational and Juried exhibitions in both the U.S. and abroad.
